CSI SADDLEPADS NOW FEATURE 100% ALL NATURAL WOOL INSERTS

-

New all natural wool insert.CSI is proud to announce our new Saddlepad line featuring 100% all-natural wool felt inserts. No longer do you have to worry about synthetic material next to your horse.

Why the change? Well, over the years we've had many of our customers request an all natural product. We actually began researching all-natural wool felt substitutes to our foam a couple of years ago. Then recently our foam supplier informed us they are no longer able to produce the PVC foam (used in our foam inserts) to our specifications. This news, combined with customer requests, means CSI Saddlepads has chosen to discontinue the foam liners (inserts) and move to using a 100% wool felt liners. We are dropping the price on our wool felt inserts (full pad with wool is now $350 and replacement inserts are $150).

We are very pleased with the performance of the wool felt we've chosen. In our testing, the wool felt has performed amazingly. It offers very similar shock absorption and pressure distribution as our foam, but is a 100% natural material which makes it very safe even for sensitive horses. It has also demonstrated excellent longevity in our tests and, thankfully, doesn't require a lot of care and cleaning (just brush the dirt and hair off before you saddle up and then a deep cleaning about once a season).

The wool liner also eliminates several concerns customers have had about our foam liners including slippage and premature wear due to environmental conditions.

The Flex-Plate, which is the true heartbeat of our pad and the thing that sets us apart from the competition, still provides the same protection it always has - that will never change

NFR #11 Qualifying Barrel Racer Jeanne Anderson and #15 Qualifying Barrel Racer Sydni Blanchard will be riding CSI Saddlepads. Both riders will be riding pads laser engraved with their horse's names. "We are proud that Jeanne's Firebug and Sydni's Shotgun will be sporting these special pads," says CSI owner Donna Helms. "All of here at CSI will be rooting for these girls to have the best runs of their lives." 2010 is the first trip to the NFR for both women as well as CSI Saddlepads. Good Luck!!

CSI now offers custom lasering for your CSI Saddlepad. Logos, brands, sayings and more -- if it can be made in to a graphic file, we can put it on a saddle pad for as little as $25. We also offer custom award pads for your horse show or club. They make great show prizes as well as year end awards and thank you gifts.

SADDLING TIP: How to get your wool pad pulled up in the gullet of your saddle correctly.
Pad properly pulled up in the gullet.
-
The CSI Saddlepad is designed with a two and half inch contour which allows for very effective wither relief. In order to get the most relief, you need to get the contour correctly placed in the gullet of the saddle. To do this, you need to pull the pad up as far as it will go inside the gullet.

With the new wool inserts this can be a challenge at first -- especially before they get broken in a bit through use.

Pushing pad up into the gullet of the saddle.
To make it correct positioning of the saddle pad easier, you can push the pad up from the side. Do this BEFORE you cinch and do it equally on both sides of the pad. (See the images below.)

When the pad is positioned correctly, it will look like the picture labeled "correct."
HORSE CARE TIP: Strengthening your sway backed horse's top line.
-
Sway backed horse.
As your horse ages, her top line will begin to lose muscle mass and, eventually, shape. This is a normal part of equine aging, but it can cause a multitude of saddle fit problems. Using a CSI Saddlepad is an excellent way to help keep your older horse on the trail or in the competition arena, but there is more you can do to extend the quality of life of your aging equine companion! One very easy way to help your horse build or maintain a strong top line is to do some abdominal exercises with your horse each day. To do this, "tickle" your horse under the center of her belly causing her to "lift" her back. Keep tickling for a hold of about ten seconds and then let the horse relax. Do this for a repetition of five to ten times per day. Be sure to praise your horse between repetitions.

Have a wonderful Holiday Season!

Happy Trails,

The CSI Saddlepads Team
