Quick note to say how much I like my saddle!! I can not believe how much better my horses are moving out of their shoulders. With it being new and so different from my old saddle it is going to take a little getting used to but so far I do like the way I fit in it and the position it puts me in. Now to just get it broke in! I will send you some pics of the saddle on my horses as soon as I have some help here to take the pics.

All of the saddles shown on these pages are available in 13", 13 1/2", 14", 14 1/2", 15", 15 1/2", and 16" seats. Notice that many of the saddles shown feature a leather covered horn. "I actually prefer a leather horn over the braided rawhide" says Lynn. You can choose either type on any saddle. Now also available is the ability to build Lynn McKenzie Special "Kids" size saddles.

The "New Lynn McKenzie Special" saddle is on the cutting edge of saddle design for speed events. We started by improving the saddle tree design to allow increased shoulder movement and freedom for the horse's hips to coil under the back of the saddle. These improvements, along with the unique rigging design, allows the weight of both saddle and rider to be distributed evenly along the horse's back.

Tree description:

Lynn McKenzie Special tree - Gullet or pommel measures 5 1/2" wide - Bars - 11" at the top and 13" at the wide point, and between the bars underneath 3 1/2" wide.

Lynn McKenzie Wide Tree - Gullet or pommel measures 6 1/4" wide - Bars - 13" and between the bars underneath 4 1/2" wide. The LM Wide Tree goes to the next level of fitting horses which the LM Special does not fit. These are the horses with wider shoulders and flatter backs. The gullet measurement of 6 1/4" holds the saddle in good position on the horses back. Too wide of a measurement in the gullet will allow the bars to slip behind the shoulder blade and cause dry spots or white hair due to excessive pressure. However, the bars on the “LM Wide Tree” flare out forward of where the rider sits allowing the big shoulders to run up under the bars instead of bumping into them. If the shoulder bumps into the bars, it restricts shoulder movement which will shorten the stride.

The Wide Fit Tree fits horses that you have been riding with semi quarter horse bars and with the flared bars to give them more shoulder room the Quarter Horse bars.

The LM Wide Tree is rigged with the same innovative rigging as the Special. This method has proven to keep the saddle in place with "little" to "no" slipping back or rolling side to side.

We were also able to keep the integrity of the seat the same even though we changed the bars. The rider will still get the same great ride and balance with the new “LM Wide Tree.”

"My saddle trees are handmade to my specification in New Braunfels, Texas. They are wood trees, fiberglass reinforced, and covered in a new material called Armor-coat. Rawhide covered trees are still available, but TESTS PROVE THAT THE NEW MATERIAL IS FAR SUPERIOR. The saddles are built using Herman Oak skirting leather (one of the few tanners still operating in the US), and all hardware is stainless steel. My saddles are handmade at the Double J factory in Yoakum. Everything is made to order, (please allow about 4 weeks for delivery) so you can have it your way!"
